Václavice: “Land of wormwood and windmills”
“The region around Václavice and Uhelná is a land of wind games, runs across the fields between forests and woods – a kingdom of wind songs – long as the distance, where even the sun does not set, they can be roared for hours together with the autumn nymph Melusine. He who understands the Hrádek’s wind will understand the land of windmills, and what is more, he will fall in love with it like with a girl – the wind maiden, the land of the wind elves will tame him – he will then run his wild breathless runs off roads, trails, and footpaths, only in the meadows and fields, among the deserted houses. With brother wind at his back. Then, when he falls, tired, into the grass, whether lush summer or faded, yellow autumn, he will only understand my naming of this landscape. He will recognize that it is indeed a land of wormwood and windmills. And he, who will not understand – has but himself to blame – there will surely be many who will never understand. But – do such people run across the fields with the wind in their pockets?”
